‘La madriguera’ (The Writer’s Burrow), a film co-produced by 32 historias and Balance Productions, Many Colors audiovisual producers, has been awarded with Silver Remi to Best Thriller of the Year at WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals in the USA. Directed by Kurro González, this thriller was selected among other 180 participants from all over the world.
The film was released last December in Spanish theaters, starting then a journey across five different international festivals. ‘La madriguera’, previously selected among 470 feature films to attend Austin Film Festival in Texas, USA, receives this new acknowledgement. Our coworkers at Balance Productions have contributed to the motion picture with a team of professionals, technical equipment for the cinematography.
‘La madriguera’ had an outstanding position in two Spanish film festivals. Recently, during its European premiere, the film opened the 35th edition of the Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival in Barcelona, and it was also the inaugural film at the 15th edition of the International Film Fest of Almeria (FICAL).
The film has been also released in India, place of its Asian debut, specifically in Cinema of the World section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI Goa), classified as an A event and known as the ‘Indian Cannes’. ‘La Madriguera’ also visited the International Film Festival of Kerala.
Francisco Conde, producer and protagonist of this thriller, declared after the new award was announced: “This important recognition is a crucial step in our international journey, especially coming from such a prestigious world festival. For us, it is a way to prove that Spanish film industry in Almeria is capable of producing high quality cinema, art works that must be shared with the world.”
After a highly traumatic event, Carlos, a famous writer, loses his inspiration and locks himself at home. In order to press him to comply with the contract he has signed, their publishers ask Caterina, a young admirer, to help Carlos with his duty. Soon, the girl’s presence starts to exert a positive influence on Carlos, who sees in her the only way out to finish his novel, and will not let her go.
